Peak District Engagement Session
After Amy & Will had been in contact and booked me to photograph their wedding, we organised to meet up in the Peak District as they wanted some photos to celebrate their engagement. Usually when speaking to couples, I always ask how they feel about having their photos taken, and with the usual answer being that they don’t feel super confident, I normally mention that a small couple shoot before their wedding can be a great way to feel a little more comfortable. I have to add at this point that this is completely normal, and something that I actually feel myself - ironically I hate having my photo taken most of the time. That being said, I always love having the opportunity to meet and chat before, as it allows me to not also build a good friendship, but also so that you can understand my vision and process when behind the camera, and allow you to feel completely at ease around me.
Not only that, but an engagement session can also be a great way for you to get a bunch of photos before your wedding. They can either be used on invites, or if there are parts of the day where you want to have some pictures around your venue of you two, then this can be a great way to have those photos.
I met up with Amy & Will at Baslow Edge, just on the edge of the Peak District, and headed out for a walk and chat along the ridge here, making the most of the beautiful views here, where you can even make out Chatsworth House. A place that neither of them had been to before, it was great for them not only to explore this new part of Derbyshire, but it was also great for us to meet face to face and spend some time together in the lead to their wedding.
Here are a selection of my favourites from their engagement session.
