An Intimate Beach Elopement | Aberdeenshire, Scotland | Leah & Niall
For the longest time now, I’ve always been amazed by the beauty and secluded beaches that are scattered across all of the Scotland’s coast. Therefore, I was very excited to have the opportunity to capture Leah & Niall’s beautiful elopement on Sunnyside Beach in Aberdeenshire. When I’d spoke to Leah & Niall in the lead-up to their elopement, they expressed that they didn’t feel overly confident in front of the camera, and wanted to have a relaxed style of coverage, which is something that I feel aligns completely with me. Over the last couple of years, I’ve really focused on capturing raw moments, prioritising a more laid-back approach, which is especially helpful for any couples who are worried about being camera-shy.
We first met up in the gorgeous little fishing village of Portsoy, and had a little wander along the harbour here. Then, we made the shot drive north to begin the walk out to Sunnyside beach. As you make your way out here, you get some lovely views out to the beach from the cliffs above, and can appreciate how peaceful this spot is. There humanist ceremony was led by Ailie MacLeod, who did an amazing job. Leah & Niall also chose to make some private vows, where they went on a little stroll down the beach before coming back to exchange rings and some more vows.
Following their ceremony, we headed on a short walk around the beach, where Leah & Niall took in the views and enjoyed a moment to just chat and take it all in. On our way back, we made a stop at Findlater Castle for some more photos - an incredible ruin along this stretch of coastline. This little corner of the Scotland east-coast, and it was the perfect place for this relaxed and intimate elopement.
