A Winter Wedding in the Peak District
By Joe Hall | UK Wedding Photographer
After such a strange year of cancellations and postponements, I was lucky enough to have the chance to photograph Alex and Usa’s wedding towards the end of 2020. After having their ceremony in Sheffield, we organised to meet up in the heart of the Peak District National Park to spend an hour or so capturing their couple session. This had always been a dream for me since I started as a Derbyshire wedding photographer, and so I had to make sure that I picked the ideal spot for the setting of the winter sun. We decided on Baslow Edge, and luckily for us the weather came through good and produced some beautiful light. The walk up to the main look-out point at this spot isn’t a hard one, and normally takes around 10-15 minutes, however, if you are planning to choose this spot in the future then bear in mind that it can be quite boggy after some periods of rain. Thankfully for us, the sunset that night was gorgeous, meaning we got some stunning photos.
As a Derbyshire wedding photographer, it is an absolute pleasure to be able to get out to the Peak District and photograph couples like Alex and Usa. Going forward, I would love to be able to focus some more of my time in this area - the deep earthy colours that this place offers, contrasting with white wedding dress really does produces some incredible photos.
